Kentish is very fortunate to have a wonderful nursing home in Sheffield - Tandara Lodge. Kentish Lions are called upon occasionally to help with acquiring equipment to make life better for both Tandara residents and employees. Recently Tandara asked the Lions Club of Kentish for assistance to purchase a new kind of Physiotherapy machine, which would provide both exercise and strength training for its residents. The cost of the machine was outside the reach of both Tandara and the Lions Club, but with assistance from the Lions Foundation of Multiple District 201, and Lions district 201T1, the idea became reality. The physiotherapy machine - called THE ENABLER can be seen by following the link here.
At a presentation ceremony on Friday 5/10/2007 Kentish Lions President Tommy Huett 2007-8 officially handed over a cheque for $12000 for The Enabler.
Kentish Lions President 2006-7 Don Thwaites with Tandara Staff Lynne, Kerry and Christine and the Oxygen concentrating machine. Prior to donating the machine Tandara staff had to connect residents with breathing difficulties to oxygen bottles. This was bulky and clumsy, as well as expensive. The machine is estimated to save around $70 per day when in use.
